Get your taxes done using TurboTax

Yes, if you have too many transactions to import, you can enter summary transactions in TurboTax. When you do that, you enter one transaction for all of your category A sales, and one transaction for all your category B sales, etc.

Here's how to do that:

  1. Sign in to your TurboTax account.
  2. Select Federal, then Wages & Income.
  3. Scroll down to Investments and Savings (1099-B, 1099-INT, 1099-DIV, 1099-K, Crypto), select Start or Revisit to the right.
  4. Select Add investments.
  5. On the Let's import your tax info screen, select Enter a different way.
  6. Select Stocks, bonds, etc. (1099-B), then Continue.
  7. Enter your broker's name and select Continue.
  8. Answer the questions on Tell us about the sales on your (Name) 1099‑B according to your situation.
  9. On the screen Now, choose how to enter your sales, choose Sales section totals.
  10. The next screen provides some guidance on finding your sales summary.
  11. You'll now be able to enter the total proceeds (sales) and cost basis, along with the sales category. Refer to your 1099-B for the amounts and category. When finished, select Continue.
  12. You can add additional sales totals by selecting the Add another sales total on the Review your sales section totals screen.
