Is form 843 for 2022 required for 2023 tax return?

Hi,

I'm wrapping up my 2023 tax and wanting to confirm something that I didn't do last year and would appreciate the help.

I had 2 employers last year that had different FED ID (same company but different unit). I followed the guideline in the answer here https://ttlc.intuit.com/community/taxes/discussion/re-how-to-fix-excess-social-security-tax-from-2-e... by reducing one of the social security tax withheld so I wouldn't get penalized for that (based on recommendation). For my situation, Turbotax wasn't able to self correct the excess. After I filed my 2022 tax, I forgot to file form 843 to get back the excess SS tax that I withheld (a few hundred bucks).

For tax year 2023 return, do I need to file Form 843 for tax year 2022 first before importing my 2022 file into 2023 tax return (so the software would pick up that form too?)

or is that form independent of a tax return? so I can file 2022 Form 843 separately this year after I file my 2023 tax return?

Thanks!
