I would call that a complicated workaround, not "correct". Correct would be for the screen people are stumbling on to actually let you edit the columns, or provide a *labeled* data entry box where you could left and right from column to column. Each year the usability goes down - insufficient context, confusing instructions, data entry screens like this one that don't actually work... I've been using it for years and increasingly feels like you're purposely making it harder so people will opt for your paid professionals.
