If a person gets a 1099NEC that means that he/she was paid >$600.00 for their work and it was reported to the IRS. That is reportable income and has to be filed as such. Similar to a W-2 form, it will include the Payer's TIN, the Recipient's TIN (SSN) and the amount paid.
