Get your taxes done using TurboTax
I have reviewed your diagnostic file. TurboTax is not calculating any excess Social Security credit. The W-2 that has Box 1 less than Box 3 is because of 401k deferrals shown in Box 12. One W-2 is attributed to Taxpayer and one to Spouse.
I did not find any summary screen displaying incorrect amounts. The correct amounts from boxes 1 and 3 appear on the applicable forms and worksheets including the W2/W2G Summary. We need to use a Desktop version of TurboTax with the diagnostic files, so the format of the displays is different than with the Online versions, but I confirmed the information is correct.
You can check to see if you're running the latest version of TurboTax. If you're on a PC using TurboTax Online, open TurboTax and select Check for Updates from the Online menu near the top. If there are any updates, you'll be prompted to download them.
Tips:
- It's best to use a wired, high-speed connection when updating, both to save time and minimize data corruption.
- If your connection drops in the middle of the update, try again; it should pick up where it left off.
- If you're having trouble updating on your PC, try a manual update.
You can try manually updating TurboTax Online as explained in this help article.
