The form is designed to list the names of both taxpayers when filing married-joint and the social security number of the taxpayer that is listed first on the Form 1040. If you don't want it displayed this way, you can clear the return and start it over while listing yourself first when you begin the return. If you do this, however, it will still list both of your names in the first box, but it would have your social security number listed next to it. The first box says "Name shown on your return", since there are two names on the return, it seems appropriate that both names would be listed, as it is a joint return and you are both responsible for it.
I don't think you can find other tax software that would treat it differently, as I believe this is how the form was intended to be filled out. You could complete the form manually and submit your return by mailing it in as a work-around.
