Turbo Tax Premium and  TurboTax Premier desktop download

I have clicked on Turbo Tax Premium but I don't see option like Import previous year tax and interface looks very different.

Any idea where is option for importing all the info from prior year. Thanks

Sanjay

Premium is an online product (web version.)  If you are using Online TurboTax this year for the first time, it won't automatically transfer-in any *.tax2022 data file that was prepared last year in desktop version (CD/download).   If you want to stay in the Online version, we can tell you special steps to upload the *.tax2022 data file from your computer if you still have it.  It does require you start the return over as part of the process.   You need to decide which of the two versions you want to use--Online or desktop.    First let me tell you the difference between those 2 products.

Those 2 products "Premier" and "Premium" can be confusing.

TurboTax Premium is a new Online TurboTax product accessed via a browser.  This year Online TurboTax combined the former Online Premier and former Online Self-Employed into one product and called it "Premium."  It is an Online product only.

Premier still exists as a desktop edition (CD/download) installed on one's computer.

If you are using Premium, then you must be using Online TurboTax.  If you used desktop TurboTax last year, it will indeed look quite a bit different from the desktop version.  And that would explain why your information from 2022 did not transfer-in.  Again, we can tell you how to do it, if you have the 2022 tax data file.

A feature lacking in Premium is that it does not have the benefit of Forms Mode for viewing/direct editing of the actual forms during return preparation.   Premium can only prepare 1 Federal return per Online account.  In Premium, there is an extra fee to prepare a state return, but state efile is free.

Premier can prepare multiple returns with up to 5 Federal efiles.  It includes a state program download for 1 state.  One can prepare multiple state returns of that same state, but there is a $25 fee to efile a state return (except no state efile fee for NY state).   That fee can be avoided if one wishes to print and mail the return.

Once you decide for sure which one you want to use, we can tell you what to do about transferring-in the 2022 information--as long as you have the *.tax2022 data file.
