Unable to pay for CA e-file: "Hmm... it looks like we've hit a slight snag"

I've been struggling with this problem for a few days now. Call with tech support was not very helpful. They walked me through many steps without successful results (reinstall software, clear cookies/cache, disable pop-up blocker, etc.). Thank you in advance for any help anyone can give.

 

The following is the sequence of events leading up to the error. 

 

1) I can reach this point in program, no problem:

2) Clicking on Pay with credit card button brings up this window:

3) Clicking on OK button saves the return, no problem. Then this window comes up:

4) No amount of trying again or waiting has helped so far!
