DMarkM1 - Thank you for responding to me!!
I think that my mis-understanding may be the root cause.
My Missouri based employer provides me two W-2 documents. One for Illinois and of course, one for Missouri. They base the values based upon when I physically badge into the building in Missouri. I enter both of these W-2s while doing the federal of course and I've checked them thoroughly.
When doing my MO return, I believe that I'm effectively misinterpreting what remote work is. To this point, I've been trying to use my Illinois income as the remote portion. Basically, my mistake is that I shouldn't include the Illinois earnings. This is very misleading if you consult the MO-NRI instructions, which refer to the values on your Fed 1040.
All of the monies that I earned in MO were done so in a non-remote fashion. So, essentially, I have NO remote work in MO. See what I did there? did you chuckle? So, can you please help me to understand if this new assumption is correct?
