Get your taxes done using TurboTax
An individual is liable for Additional Medicare Tax if the individual’s wages, compensation, or self-employment income (together with that of his or her spouse if filing a joint return) exceed the threshold amount for the individual’s filing status. The 250K number is not referencing total income - but wages and compensation. You either have a typo, check your w-2 and 1099 entries, or you are not including some income. To verify the amount of wages and compensation, click on Forms at the top and scroll down to your Earned Income Worksheet. At the very bottom, you will see the amount of compensation and wages reported on Form 1040. If you are using TurboTax Online, visit the Print Center to view forms.
