I don't know the details of the type of transaction you are trying to make or if it's the same type of transaction as your family member; i.e., making a direct deposit or direct debit. It is just a suggestion that, depending on the type of transaction you are trying to make, to contact your financial institution to confirm their correct routing number. For example, the routing number on a paper check might not always be the same number you'll need for an ACH transfer or direct debit.
