I called TT tech support to talk about DOC ID, which is mentioned in this link.
The person in the call center DID NOT have sufficient information to satisfy my
question. She did the best she could, but had NO IDEA that TT has been a guiding
light into financial transactions becoming fully automated across the financial
services industry. Most financial houses are setting up an encrypted dedicated
server to transmitting COMPOSITE 1099 R tax forms to TT prep software. I got this
in the cover letter from Vanguard for my composite 1099R.
Had it not been for the Vanguard cover letter, I would have known NOTHING. In fact I
have already informed another financial house to get with the program. I cannot believe
the level of ignorance at TT and at my financial advisors office about this TOPIC. So my hat if off
to Vanguard that has been on the leading edge of a lot of this stuff. In fact somebody needs to tell the IRS to adopt the industry standard for COMPOSITE 1099R reporting... The key is in the HEADER that looks like this:

THIS stupid blog prevents a paste.... so fix this inadequacy. After all the word in the
industry is that most customers of TT are looking for alternatives.
