Get your taxes done using TurboTax
Probably. He is considered a self-employed business with the NEC and has tools/ items used in his possession. The Florida return in TurboTax is to report tangible personal property used in a Florida-located business or rental property and is filed with the county property appraiser. If you do need to file a DR-405, nothing will print unless assets are transferred or you manually enter assets in the DR-405 worksheet.
The FL department of Revenue has full information and forms. It says:
Tangible Personal Property (TPP) means all goods, chattels, and other articles of value (excluding some vehicular items) capable of manual possession and whose chief value is intrinsic to the article itself. Inventory and household goods are excluded
If you do not have a business or rental real estate with assets in Florida, you do not need to prepare or file the Florida return in TurboTax.
