I had to go through several recommendations to get through this mess.
First I tried to reinstall TurboTax. It recognized the program was installed so I chose the fix and reinstall option. I then opened TurboTax and it tried to got through the update process which again caused by system to crash in the middle of updating which was my issue I ENCOUNTERED the first time. So I did the fix and reinstall again. This time I followed another recommendation to download the update file separately recommended as one of the other fixes. Then I had to delete the state file and reupload the state file that I had to purchase a second time because the program I originally bought included one state download. In total it took me about 7 hours to figure this all out.
