Get your taxes done using TurboTax
I'm not sure what makes up your income so it is hard to comment on why you think it is underreported. You need to keep in mind that if you have business deductions they will be subtracted from your gross business income before they appear on your form 1040. This may be true of other income such a investment income where losses are netted against gains.
You can look at your form 1040 while working in the online version of TurboTax. That will give you a breakdown of the different components of your income so you can narrow down what income is not being reported correctly. You will see wages, interest and dividends, pension distributions and investment income among other income on page one of the form 1040. On schedule 1 you will see other income such as business income. Your standard or itemized deductions and qualified business income deduction will appear on the first page of form 1040. Your business deductions will not appear there.
To view your form 1040 and schedule 1 to 3:
- Choose Tax Tools from your left menu bar in TurboTax Online
- Choose Tools
- Choose View Tax Summary
- See the Preview my 1040 option in the left menu bar and click on it
- Choose the Back option in the left menu bar when you are done
