Get your taxes done using TurboTax
TurboTax follows the IRS guidelines for acceptable ZIP codes. If the 2-letter state abbreviation does not match the ZIP code, you will receive an error when attempting to e-file. 99% of the time it is because the state abbreviation is wrong, so double-check that first. Should you receive this error:
- Double-check that you entered the correct 2-letter state code. (click the link to verify) -
- Make sure you've entered the ZIP code in either 5-digit or 9-digit format, for example, 12345 or 12345-6789.
- Look up the correct ZIP code for the street address in question. Use the correct zip code if different.
You may need to get out of the review and edit the form from the interview.
