We live in a state that has a state income tax and our son goes to college in a different state that also has an income tax. Last year, he did a little tutoring work on campus and got a check for $60 (or so). It does not look like the college is going to issue a 1099 or W-2. He'll need to file a home state return, but does he need to file a return for the college state?
