Yes, heat pumps and air conditioning units are listed as Energy-Efficient Building Property on the IRS forms and in TurboTax.
Here's where to enter your expenses:
- Open you return in TurboTax.
- Select the down arrow to the right of Deductions & Credits.
- Select Pick up where you left off.
- Select Start or Edit to the right of Home Energy Credits.
- Answer Yes, and Continue.
- Answer the next few questions according to your situation.
- On the screen titled Tell Us How Much You Paid for Energy-Saving Improvements, enter the amount of your expenses in the box to the right of Energy-Efficient Building Property.
- Continue to the end of the section.
