Get your taxes done using TurboTax

Yes, that income is taxable and you are supposed to report it even if you don't get a 1099-NEC form or a W-2 form.

If you intend to deduct any expenses related to your babysitting income, you need to report it in the self-employment section of TurboTax as Carl points out.

If you don't have any expenses to claim, it's easier to claim it here:

  1. Open your return.
  2. Scroll down to Wages & Income. Expand the section by selecting the down arrow.
  3. Select Add more income or Pick up where you left off.
  4. Scroll down to Less Common Income at the bottom. Expand the section by selecting the down arrow.
  5. Select Start or Revisit to the right of Miscellaneous Income, 1099-A, 1099-C.
  6. Select Start or Revisit to the right of Other income not already reported on a Form W-2 or Form 1099.
  7. Answer Yes to Did you receive any other wages? and select Continue.
  8. Enter the total amount your earned in the box next to Household Employee Wages.
  9. Answer the remaining questions in the section.
