Get your taxes done using TurboTax
Yes, that income is taxable and you are supposed to report it even if you don't get a 1099-NEC form or a W-2 form.
If you intend to deduct any expenses related to your babysitting income, you need to report it in the self-employment section of TurboTax as Carl points out.
If you don't have any expenses to claim, it's easier to claim it here:
- Open your return.
- Scroll down to Wages & Income. Expand the section by selecting the down arrow.
- Select Add more income or Pick up where you left off.
- Scroll down to Less Common Income at the bottom. Expand the section by selecting the down arrow.
- Select Start or Revisit to the right of Miscellaneous Income, 1099-A, 1099-C.
- Select Start or Revisit to the right of Other income not already reported on a Form W-2 or Form 1099.
- Answer Yes to Did you receive any other wages? and select Continue.
- Enter the total amount your earned in the box next to Household Employee Wages.
- Answer the remaining questions in the section.
