Get your taxes done using TurboTax
If you are married filing jointly and your total Adjusted Gross Income is $12,000 you probably do not have to file a tax return. However . . .
- If you have $400 or more of self-employment income you are required to file a tax return.
- If you got advance premium tax credit for health insurance from the Marketplace ("Obamacare") you are required to file a tax return, regardless of your income.
- If you took money out of a Health Savings Account (HSA) or Medical Savings Account (MSA) you are required to file a tax return, regardless of your income.
You can use the interactive IRS tool at the link that CatinaT1 gave you to see if you have to file a tax return.
