Yes, but not the full story. From my read, one can only prepare one tax return with the online version.
For tax planning purposes, I need to complete a second version, in particular, an estimated next year 2024 tax return based on estimated RMD's for the following year, so I can estimate and set proper withholding for the coming year. I copy my current return to a new name i.e. “Estim 2024” and throw in new 2024 numbers where needed. It's not perfect, because new tax rates and standard deductions are not fully known. but close enough and I can override some numbers.
Fifteen years or so ago TurboTax provided and included the ability to more easily estimate “next” year's taxes. It was great. But recently too problematic to do so now given so many tax and rule changes every year. IRS and CA don’t even finalize their current forms until fye, if we are lucky.
