Get your taxes done using TurboTax
The suggestion by @Anonymous_ is a good one, though you may certainly also continue to use the TurboTax product.
In the year of death, you can still file a joint tax return. You would report the income received from your wife's rental properties in 2023 the same as they were reported in prior years but you "dispose" of the associated assets as of the date of her death.
Since you'll be reporting the same type of income, the same version would work well, or you can move to the online TurboTax platform. HERE is how to do that.
With TurboTax online, you can start with the basic version of TurboTax and upgrade as needed. Also, our online product offers an expert-assisted version, where a TurboTax professional (a CPA, Enrolled Agent, or attorney) can assist you as you work through the program.
A TurboTax Live Assisted expert can assist with both program navigation and tax law questions as you work on your return. You can connect with an expert via chat or telephone as often as needed throughout the year.
Please accept my condolences on your loss.
