Will going to the forms and making a change on a form override what was filled in when doing the return on the software?
A five dollar error was made on the amount of money I carried over on my 2021 return to the next year. The IRS sent me a letter stating that there was a addition error. I carried over more than $1,000, from the 2021 return to the 2022 return, so they have enough funds, no issue there. My plan is to finish completing the 2022--1040 and then subtracting an additional 5.00 from the carryover on the form section and hoping it will stick and that the software won't want me to change it back. Anyone have any experience with a change on the form sticking? Otherwise I could just put the correct amount on the form and print it out and then replace it with the one from Turbo Tax software, but that would make it incorrect for the next year. The IRS isn't asking me to do the return over, and it doesn't effect anything on the return going forward so there doesn't seem to be a need to do another return.
