Turbotax 2021 data import + turbotax online import
I filed last year 2021 with desktop having some issues importing my previous year data and also importing my crypto aggregation csv.
I am using tax.crypto.com for generating a turbo tax csv which I can import into turbotax. The csv is only compatible with turbotax online for 2022
What I've tried
Attempt 1
1. Starting my 2022 taxes in Turbotax online
2. Importing the crypto agregation csv to turbotax online
3. then exporting turbo tax online to turbo tax 2022 desktop.
Pros - crypto transactions imported in desktop successfully
Cons - Couldn't import any 2021 data. Have a house depreciation, capital loss carryover etc. If I go down this route might need to manually enter alot of data?
Attempt 2:
1. Start off new filing in turbo tax 2022 desktop using previous year tax2021 file
2. Attempt to use file -> import -> upload crypto sales
3. Sadly get stuck here as the csv format for turbotax online and desktop differ
Pros - Get 2021 data transferred into 2022 desktop
Cons - Can't import the crypto csv from turbo tax online. Noticed the template has
Date | Type | Sent Asset | Sent Amount | Received Asset | Received Amount | Fee Asset | Fee Amount | Market Value Currency | Market Value | Description | Transaction Hash | Transaction ID |
the csv which I uploaded to turbo tax online has the following columns
Amount | Currency Name | Purchase Date | Date Sold | Cost Basis | Proceeds |
Is there something Im missing how can I make turbotax desktop either accept the turbotax online csv format for crypto transactions or how can I import a tax2021 return into an already in progress tax 2022 desktop return without losing all the data?
Is it possible to merge the tax2022 files I generated in Attempt 1 with Attempt 2? What forms correspond to the crypto transaction can I just copy the form and then add it to the Attempt 2 tax2022 file somehow?
