You are correct. This year, federal taxes on income you earned in 2022 are due on Tuesday, April 18, by 11:59 PM. That means you need to file your return and pay any taxes you owe by that date. Tax day is usually April 15, but that day falls on a weekend this year.

This will give you until October 16th, 2023 to file your tax return.
On the sidebar go to:
- Tax Tools
- Then select Tools
- In the four green boxes select Tax Topics
- Type extension
- Need More Time to File Your Return?
- Select Start Easy Extension
- This will give you until October to file.
