Volume, Frequency and Holding period of Trades
Most brokerages only give trade date with dates and profits and loss.
I read somewhere for tax purpose one should treat such Options Spread as 2 trades (there are 2 legs). So if you open and closed a spread in day. Then it is 4 trades per day. Is this approximate calculation for trading volume?
I am trying to determine
Volume (how many trades each day or average per day),
Frequency: e.g. Executes trades on close to four days per week, so that is working 4 out 5 days and that is 80% frequency of trading.
Holding periods (What is average holding period, From day I opened a trade to close a trade)
How can I do that? I don't think Turbo Tax gives you this information. Does Quicken books give you this information?
I can get trade data from my brokerage into Microsoft Excel and then how to analyze from there? Any suggestion for either free or subscription software?
