Get your taxes done using TurboTax
Thank you for the information. Based on what I have read, this is my understanding. Please correct me if I am wrong.
1. I have been contributing to a 401K ROTH account through my work plan (Fidelity) since 2019.
2. The plan also allows after tax contribution and in service withdrawal and rollover into 401K ROTH.
3. My after tax account within my 401k plan has about $1,100 for this year (2023) ($1,000 contribution + $100 earnings)
4. If I rollover this after tax amount into 401K ROTH, the whole amount ( $1,100) will be rolled over into 401K ROTH and I have to pay taxes on the earrings ($100) when I file my 2023 return.
5. When I file my tax return for 2023 using TT, I am not sure how the 1099-R form will look like, but I will choose the option of "this money rolled over to a designated ROTH 401(K).."
MAGI
I need to look into the MAGI calculation if I do IRR.

QUALIFIED 401K
Not concerned about 401K qualification since I am not planning to withdraw anytime soon (aka less than 5 years of opening the ROTH 401K)
