Get your taxes done using TurboTax
We(Husband and wife) lost our Turbo tax 5 digits pin so that we were not able to do e-file for the last 3 years due to bad pin. This year we prepared early to get the IPPIN from IRS in advance. After we got the IP PIN, we noticed that it is 6 digits not 5 digits. If this IRS IP PIN can't work with Turbo tax e-file submission, why does Turbo tax give us the following messages and ask us to get the 6 digits pin from IRS for no good.
| IND-183-01 - The Spouse did not enter a valid Identity Protection Personal Identification Number (IP PIN). Please visit www.irs.gov/getanippin for further information and resubmit your return with the correct number. |
These are our questions.
1.I followed the answer and go to "other tax situation" and input out IP PIN from IRS. Do we still get the "invalid PIN" again when I resubmit my e-file return? I noticed that the e-file still require me to put turbo tax pin? Can our correct IP PIN from IRS let the Turbo tax software ignore my bad turbo tax pin and let my e-file go through?
2. If the answer is no for the question 1, how do I get my turbo tax pin back? In year 2020 , we following the online instruction to reset the pin, it didn't work. It asked mobile phone number and all kind of security questions which we have changed.
