Was going through the post 1099-R entries where it asks if everything was an RMD.
Initially I said no. It asked for "I did not receive an RMD for 2022". I filled in the amount the total RMD that was required at the time and left the amount received blank. The "Federal Tax Due" amount dropped by a few thousand as a result (which was expected). I then it back, checked the box for "I received all the RMD for 2022". However, the "Federal Tax Due" amount didn't change back like it should have.
I had to go back in to the "I did not receive..." option, clear the values out (which fixed the "Federal Tax Due" amount, go back and then check the "I received..." and proceed from there normally.
Before the adjustment I made, I had even gone through the 'smart check' and it wasn't detected.
Fortunately I was paying attention and applying common sense, but hopefully that bug can be fixed so someone isn't paying taxes on amounts they shouldn't be.
