How to eliminate references to K-3 info
I went through TurboTax and entered data from my K-1 which had box 16 checked (indicating I had a K-3 ... which I do). However, the business related to my K-1 is wholly US-based with no income or other relationship to Foreign sources. But, when I did my "Smart Check" TT flagged an error saying that I didn't provide info about Foreign sources ... which there are none.
While searching for help from others, I found that, due to recent changes in the tax reporting requirements, and a deficiency in TT, for my situation, I can ignore the K-3 that was sent. HOWEVER, for some reason, I can't get TT to forget about the fact that I said I had a K-3 initially and continues to flag the error. Worst of all, TT won't let me file electronically with this "error".
There are 2 places where TT asks about K-3's: The first is when it asks which lines have data on your K-1 and the second is when it later specifically asks if you have a K-3. I can change the 2nd instance from a "Yes" to a "No" (at least temporarily), but cannot change the page where TT asks if the box on line 16 of my K-1 is checked (indicating I should have a K-3).
So, I'm assuming that the problem is that I can't uncheck the box I checked, initially, indicating that the box in line 16 of my K-1 is checked. But, like I said, TT won't let me uncheck it.
Is there a solution? My only option at this point seems to be to file via paper and the P.O. which, it seems, TT will allow.
Thanks for your help!
