If you feel more comfortable blotting out the account number, do that.
However, the IRS needs to be assured that the 1099-B form is yours. Do not blot out identifying information that assigns the form to you.
Retain a copy that has not been altered in your records should the IRS contact you about needing the unaltered form at a later time.
