Get your taxes done using TurboTax
May we state for the sale of clarity, this institution is providing PRE-K services. Furthermore, this institution is Catholic based. The question is can the fees paid for a child be listed on the Child/Dependent Tax Credit? The PRE-K automatically is defined such that daycare services outweighs learning so it qualifies in that respect. All the other stipulations are also met by the parent (earned income, while working/looking for work, blah blah). Does the Catholic institution have a Taxpayer ID Number that I can list to get the credit? Or, is it somehow tax-exempt and thus the credit cannot be used? Maybe a tax loophole such that the PRE-K Catholic institution is defined as a "_____?" and thus does not require a TaxIDNumber and therefore fees paid cannot be used for the credit? I hope I was clear enough. I assume the answer will be "Ask the Catholic PRE-K if it has a TaxIDNumber." Or, if the PRE-K is actually "owned & operated" by the Catholic Diocese it is, in fact, tax exempt because all profits go to the "church." That actually makes sense to me.
