Get your taxes done using TurboTax
If you're using TurboTax Desktop, go to FORMS at the upper right and from 'Forms in My Return' you can look at your Form 1040, and use the Magnifying Glass next to an amount to drill down to the originating entries.
If you're using TurboTax Online, have you used the 'Preview My 1040' tool? With your return open, go to Tax Tools > Tools in the left-side menu, then choose 'View Tax Summary' from the pop-up menu. Then, back at the left-side menu, choose 'Preview My 1040'. This will give details on what is actually being reported in your return.
Since we can't see your return in this forum, coupled with the fact that the Refund Meter does not always change in response to an entry just made, it would be difficult to say why your Refund changes by a specific amount. It may not even be related to the Self Employment Tax.
