if you received a 1099-Div, there may be a portion related to US Government Investments.  This may be noted in Box 12, or you may need to calculate the amount.  

 

Here's more info on 1099-Div Government Interest (reported on Schedule B).

 

You may have Capital Gains from selling an investment reported to you on a 1099-B (reported on Schedule D).  Capital Gains Distributions are not US Government interest because they are gains and not interest.


These are not added together to determine US Government Income, so If you can better clarify what you are asking, we'll try to help.
