My father attempted to download TurboTax, since his computer does not have a CD drive. He typed "installturbotax" instead of installturbotax.com in his browser address bar. He ended up at a website called "installturbo.tax", which is set up to scam people. He typed in his key code from the CD package and was redirected to another page that tried to get his SSN, which he refused. He was then asked to call "TurboTax support", which just someone else trying to scam him. They used TeamViewer to log into his computer. They may have take some personal data, but I'm not sure.
Regardless, I tried contacting someone at Intuit about this, but I could not talk to real person, since I am not a TurboTax customer.
If any representative from Intuit is monitoring this forum, please look into this. Ideally, Intuit should take steps to shut down the installturbo.tax website before more TurboTax customers are scammed/
