Get your taxes done using TurboTax

I've been reading all the comments in this thread.  Here's my thoughts.  I do not work for Intuit.

I've been using TT desktop for Windows for many years.  I purchase the CD deluxe version.  The only hickup I've ever had is when they silently removed schedule D from the deluxe version.  They put it back the following year.

I like the format and user interface of TT desktop version.  I get free Fed E-file.  I print and mail the state return.

One of the persons in my household took money out of an IRA with no knowledge of the tax impacts.  The person was 39 years old at the time. (2020 tax year).  I discovered the "disaster relief" opportunity and helped the person utilize it.  Even that first year, TT was slow in getting the correct forms integrated into their software.  The same delays has happened the 2 years since.

Like others, I wish I knew the true cause of the delays.  I do NOT "assume" that TT has some nefarious reason or a malicious intent for this delay.  We, the general public, will likely never know the true cause.  I do know that, from being in business for 45 years, there are many factors that can effect product output, some of which are beyond your control.  If you look at the published lists, this is NOT the only form still being delayed.

For me, this issue goes away after this tax year.  The person in my household has learned a valuable financial lesson regarding early withdrawals from IRA and the resulting tax consequences.

For those who are anxious to get taxes filed so that you can get your refund.  If your refund is large, why are you letting the government have the free use of YOUR MONEY for a year, beyond your tax obligations?  Do your homework and get your withholdings under control.  For those who are getting a small refund, say $200 or less, is the month or two delay of that amount going to change your life?  For those who are going to have to pay additional tax.  Why pay anything prior to the tax deadline?

For those who have expressed your dismay with TT and departed, I wish you well and good luck.  Just know that nothing stays the same forever, including, potentially, your new favorite tax preparation company and yes, even TT.

I will remain patient.
