Get your taxes done using TurboTax
Please keep your related questions in one thread. When information about your situation is scattered in multiple threads it's confusing and hard to follow, and hard to see the whole picture.
It's not clear why you are asking about the NY tax on your W-2. You didn't mention that in your earlier post. Since you worked in NJ, it's unusual that you had any NY tax withheld.
If you are concerned about the New York tax return, TurboTax would automatically apply the NY tax on your W-2 to your NY tax return if you entered it properly when you entered your W-2. On the W-2 entry screen it should be in box 17, on the same line that has New York in box 15. It should be included in the New York State tax withheld on Form IT-203 line 62. TurboTax doesn't have to ask you for it, other than having you enter it when you enter your W-2.
If you are concerned about the tax paid to the other jurisdiction on Schedule NJ-COJ line 9a in your NJ return, that does not mean the tax that was withheld on your W-2. It's the amount of tax actually paid to NY as shown on your NY tax return. TurboTax would pick that up automatically from the NY return. It doesn't have to ask you for it. If you don't see an amount on Schedule NJ-COJ line 9a, try walking through the NJ return again, since you did the NJ returns before the NY return.
In any case, do not enter the NY tax withheld from your W-2 anywhere other than on the W-2 itself.
