IRS Schedule B Instructions: Taxable interest generally should be shown on your Forms 1099-INT, Forms 1099-OID, or substitute statements.
The amount from Form 1099-OID listed in Box 8 would be entered in the 1099-INT in Box 3 (not Box 12).
- 1099-INT: Box 3. Shows interest on U.S. Savings Bonds, Treasury bills, Treasury bonds, and Treasury notes. This may or may not all be taxable
- 1099-OID: Box 8. Shows OID on a U.S. Treasury obligation for the part of the year you owned it.
