Yes, the poll worker's income has to be reported. Please follow these steps:
- Click "Wages & Income" (under Federal) on the left
- Scroll down and click "Show more" next to "Less Common Income"
- Scroll down and click "Start" next to "Miscellaneous Income, 1099-A, 1099-C"
- Select "Other income not already reported on a Form W-2 or Form 1099"
- Continue "Any Other Earned Income" screen and select "Other"
- Enter as Description "Poll or Election" and enter the amount
"Compensation paid to election workers is includible as wage income for income tax purposes, and may be treated as wages for Social Security and Medicare (FICA) tax purposes." (IRS)
