Get your taxes done using TurboTax

Thanks.  I have found the problem but need a workaround.

On 1040 line 25d (25a + 25b) indicates the correct withholding.  25c is blank.

Form 2210 line 6 indicates a higher amount than 25d.  In my situation the difference is the amount of excess social security withheld.  I checked box D in Part II and entered the withholding in the tax withheld smart worksheet.  The instructions indicate that the amount withheld must equal the amount in line 25d listed on form 1040.  The Turbotax error states that the amount withheld must equal line 6 of form 2210.  Turbotax prevents filing with this error or an override of line 6 on form 2210.  When I use the box D calculation my penalty is eliminated.  I do not want the IRS to figure the penalty because they will not do it using annualized income or part II box D information.

I could add the excess social security withheld to line 25c and then in the part II withholding smart sheet allocate the excess social security payment to the quarters in which it has occurred.

It seems that Turbotax is not checking the withholding against line 25d on form 1040 but is checking it against line 6 of form 2210 which for whatever reason contains my excess social security payment.  Interestingly I purchased h and r software that also on line 6 of form 2210 includes the excess social security payment but accepts the part D tax withholding and does not return an error.  Any help you or Turbotax can provide would be appreciated.  Than
