Here's how to report an overpayment from your 2017 return that you applied to your 2018 return so you get credit for it.
These steps are for the desktop software (CD/download).
- Federal Taxes tab (Personal tab in Home and Business)
- Subtab Deductions & Credits.
- "I'll choose what I work on."

Your 2018 Deductions & Credits summary page.
- Scroll down to the topic "Estimates and Other Taxes Paid"
- Choose subtopic "Other income taxes" and Start (or update.)
- On the Other Income Taxes screen scroll down to the topic "2017 Refund Applied to 2018."
- Choose the type of overpayment and click Start (or update.)
