Form 1040 line 14 is what is subtracted from line 11. In your case, line 14 would be at least the married filing jointly standard deduction of $25,900. Not knowing what was on line 11, your Adjusted Gross Income (AGI), I would bet that it was less than line 14.
You are to be congratulated for actually looking at the forms themselves and not just assuming everything is right.
