Get your taxes done using TurboTax

Yes, it is very unlikely, but a few people get more from filing separately.

The scenario where you get more by filing separately is when you both have income and itemized deductions and at least one of you has lots of medical and dental expenses.

In addition, you would need to not be eligible for:

  • Earned Income Tax Credit
  • American Opportunity
  • Lifetime Learning Education Tax Credits
  • Exclusion or credit for adoption expenses
  • Child and Dependent Care Tax Credit
  • Premium Tax Credit
  • Student Loan Interest deduction
