Follow these steps:
- Look at your spreadsheets, they should have sales amount and date, purchase amount and date.
- Separate the short term (less than 12 months) from the long term (one year or more)
- Total all your long term sales,
- total long term purchases
- Total all short term sales,
- total short term purchases
- Open return
- Go to income
- Stocks, Mutual Funds, Bonds, Other, start/edit
- Investments sold? Yes
- 1099-B? No
- I'll enter a summary for each sales category
- Dropdown appears
- Enter long term sales
- enter long term purchases- basis
- Holding period - long term
- continue
- Yes I need to enter another sale
- Repeat process for short term and select short term
