I entered all my information for taxes just fine, except I accidentally chose Single instead of MFS. My return was rejected, and TurboTax isn't letting me change it.
TurboTax's system sent me a link back to my return, which starts with a wizard to "fix" the issues with my return. It tells me the reject code "IND-511-01," but it doesn't actually change it. When I go to "My Info," it shows what I changed it to, MFS, but when I go to e-file again, it still shows Single. I even brought up a preview of the PDF TurboTax would send, and it continues to show Single, not MFS. The wizard never guides me through entering in my spouse's information. I also can't "clean and start over" because I "already paid" for my return, which was free. I don't understand why the system isn't actually changing my filing status, along with why it never asks for any spouse information.
At this point, my only options seem to be creating a new account and trying to start a whole new return from there? Or printing out the returns, amending by hand, and mailing them in. Both of these are incredibly inconvenient, especially since I'm having this issue due to an extremely annoying bug in TurboTax's walk-through, and absolutely nobody has an answer for my situation.
