Today I was not aware that, in order to easily e-file my State Return, I needed to e-file it with my Federal Return.
I read that I had to wait until the Federal Return was ACCEPTED before I could e-file the State Return. Federal Return was shortly accepted - but I still can not e-file my State Return.
I closed the TURBOTAX software and restarted it – and again, only the FEDERAL RETURN is shown for e-filing – even though I already e-filed it and it was accepted.
Although Turbotax noted that most people file both returns together, Turbotax should have also provided more detailed information - BEFORE I submitted to e-file my Federal Tax Return - about efiling the State Return separately from Federal.
So, ultimately, it seems that either both Federal and State must be e-filed together OR State must be mailed. Disappointing.
