I'm sorry to report that your solution does not work.  Can't quite follow your prompts exactly as they do not correspond to those on my version of TT.  However, I did enter the "adjustment" but it doesn't affect the 1040 line that it should, which is unaffected by the previously reported amount.  The 1040 interest on line 2b should be $3147 less $2540 = $670.   It's not, the adjustment I entered has no effect.

This is where the adjustment is enteredBut it does not reduce the Box 1 amount on my 1040!
