If you live in a community property state, there are rules for dividing the income if you file Married Filing Separately. Community property states are Arizona, California, Idaho, Louisiana, Nevada, New Mexico, Texas, Washington, and Wisconsin. Different states have different rules, so TurboTax will prompt for the information.
