next year consider making your IRA contribution about 1 week before due date. this way any hang ups in mail or delay in processing by financial institution will allow time so it's in by the due date. another choice could be electronic funds transfer to IRA custodian but you would have to check with them as to latest date to do it to get credit for the year specified.
