E-Filing Error Conditions - IND-031-04 & IND-181-01

Error condition 1.
"IND-034-04 - The primary taxpayer's AGI or Self-select PIN for last year does not match IRS records"

I was forced to file a paper return last year because the correct AGI didn't match the previous year's AGI. Including entering "0.00" (which processed as "0."). I had the same problem today. However, another community post stated that last year's AGI may not be available if a paper return wasn't processed by December last year. It's best to enter "0.00" in this case.

The return was rejected once again with a different error:

IND-181-01 - The Identity Protection PIN (IP PIN) for the first taxpayer on your return is missing

I wasn't aware of the location to enter the 6-digit IP PIN. (Note: There are other community posts that describe the exact steps required to enter the IP PIN). The return was accepted with the IP PIN.

I didn't see a community post which described both error conditions.

Bottom line: Do all that you can to avoid a paper return. Don't give up if you solve the AGI problem and another error is thrown!
